Our Story

Sand in your toes, hot coffee in hand. There’s nothing better than waking up with a beachside vibe. It’s a feeling we wanted to share, and it all started somewhere on a beach! A retro-inspired diner with a beachside twist, serving fresh breakfast all day and Southern-style fare with a signature side of hospitality! It turns out that was just the thing the town of St. Augustine, Florida was hungry for. A place where you’re always greeted with a sunny hello and treated with a smile. Where you can lose yourself in a big plate of something delicious and warm yourself in a friendly conversation. It’s here where you’ll find yourself in a different rhythm, moving a little slower, smiling a little bigger, and relaxing into the moments that you love. It’s a place where you want to be — and, just like your favorite beach, it’s one where you’ll always want to come back. Since our young beginnings, we’ve become a neighborhood institution, where the locals become regulars and out-of-towners make plans to return. And now, we’re bringing that beachy feeling to your neighborhood, with the good vibes, good times, and good food you crave. Because Beachside isn’t just a diner; it’s a state of mind. The Charm of a Retro Restaurant

In 2020, Andy Viola, a seasoned and successful restaurateur opened the first Beachside Diner in St. Augustine Beach Florida. Fueled by a passion for creating the perfect breakfast experience, he and his family focused on serving the community by delivering fresh, high-quality meals with speed, consistency and heartfelt hospitality.

As Beachside Diner continued to grow in popularity, Andy sold the restaurant to lifetime restaurateur Alan Wollenschlaeger. Alan had previously visited the Beachside Diner as a customer and was immediately blown away by the great food and welcoming atmosphere. When he heard it was for sale, he relocated to St. Augustine and purchased the business.

With great vibes, retro diner charm and long lines of eager patrons, he realized the Beachside Diner was too good to remain a secret in St. Augustine Beach!
